Officer caught as group jumped into his truck in Boston, police said

A Department of Youth Services correctional officer was trapped in his truck Friday after a group of people began jumping on him and banging on the windows, according to Boston Police Department.

The corrections officer was leaving work when he was blocked by several vehicles. One of the cars hit his truck and tried to drive away, according to police. Then the group of people began to surround his van and bang on the windows.

By the time other officers arrived to help, Canterbury Street had around 100 vehicles blocking it. Officers had to run down the street to assist the officers.

The group dispersed as other officers arrived, and the corrections officer was not injured, police said.

Boston police officers saw one of the people they believed was involved in the incident get into a car that did not have a front license plate. When officers asked for his license and registration, he took off, nearly hitting the officers, police said.

But due to heavy traffic, officers were able to continue to follow the car on foot. The person continued to refuse to get out of the car and reached “towards a bag near the center console”.

“Officers drew their firearms and ordered the suspect and passengers to remain still,” a police department news release said.

Everyone in the car was then removed and handcuffed. Police said they found a gun, three different license plates and three different keychains.

Another car had been thrown back into the bushes. When officers asked for identification, they provided false names.

Officers removed all the people from the car and found another gun. They also discovered the car had been stolen and had two stolen license plates.

Alan Ridenour, 19, of Marlboro, Mario Florian, 19, of Ashland, and Geraldo Colon, 21, of Framingham were arrested and charged following the incident.

All three individuals are scheduled to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
