VHP, Bajrang Dal to protest outside Bangladesh consulate over violence against Bangladeshi Hindus, ISKCON monk arrested

Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will hold a massive protest outside the Bangladesh Consulate to show support for Hindus facing attacks in Bangladesh. The protest will also demand the release of the arrested ISKCON monk.

Cases of violence against Hindus living in Bangladesh are on the rise and have become a major issue between India and Bangladesh. As many people took to social media demanding safety for them, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal announced a massive protest in solidarity with Bangladeshi Hindus.

The VHP and its Bajrang Dal youth volunteers will gather in front of the Bangladesh Consulate General office in Cuffe Parade’s World Trade Center at 3.30 pm and express their support to the Hindu population facing attacks in Bangladesh. The protest will also demand the release of arrested ISKCON monk Chinmoy Das.

Amid increasing cases of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, Chinmoy Das was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday. While Hindus in Bangladesh and around the world protested the police action, India’s Ministry of External Affairs also called the arrest “unfortunate” and said a peaceful religious leader had been detained while perpetrators of attacks against minorities remain at large .

The Free Press Journal previously reported that ISKCON Governing Body Commissioner Gauranga Das also said that “a person who practices his religion peacefully in any country should be respected.” While the issue remains unresolved, the VHP and Bajrang Dal will hit the ground running on Monday to demand security for Hindus.

“We want the ISKCON priest to be released and the unilateral attacks on our Hindu brothers to be stopped immediately. Moreover, the perpetrators targeting Hindus should be arrested immediately. Law and order should be restored in the country so that it can protect the lives and property of Hindus,” said Shriraj Nair, national spokesperson, VHP.
