The lawsuit against DaBaby was dismissed, again

The lawsuit against DaBaby was dismissed, again

In May 2019, there was a heated battle between rapper Don Trag and fellow rapper DaBaby’s security team, which led to a five-year legal saga that played out in Massachusetts courts.

I play songs like DaBaby’s opening act at Club Centro in Lawrence, as previously reported by the Globe. As DaBaby entered the club, Trag approached the artist for a photo.

DaBaby’s security team quickly intervened, and Trag slapped a bodyguard’s hand, the Globe reported. A fight broke out and DaBaby’s performance was cancelled.

I am suing DaBaby and others for the serious injuries he suffered during an incident. It’s been years since Trag demonstrated a pattern of neglect of the court case, according to an Oct. 30 court opinion filed by Associate Justice Elizabeth Dunigan of Essex County Superior Court.

Dunigan said Trag failed to take appropriate action, missed court dates and neglected to file required documents, all of which contributed to the lack of diligence in the prosecution of the case. Instead, she said DaBaby continued to defend the case and respond promptly.

At an Oct. 29 hearing, Trag appeared to be absent from a March 5 court date, but the court said that wasn’t the only issue that led to the dismissal. In the Oct. 30 opinion, Dunigan upheld Associate Justice Kristen Buxton’s earlier dismissal of the case earlier this year.
