Banyule: Bizarre robbery after man holds up milk bar with super-soaked water gun in Victoria

One of the most bizarre robberies in recent memory took place in regional Victoria after a man held up a milk bar with a super-softened water gun and made off on an electric scooter.

Detectives from the Banyule Crime Investigation Unit are investigating after the man armed with a super-saker tried to rob the milk bar in Hurstbridge – all in an attempt to steal a soft drink.

It is understood a male offender arrived at the milk bar on the Heidelberg-Kinglake Road on an electric scooter at around 7.20am on Sunday 24 November.

Police were told he entered the store and asked the member of staff for a free can of an energy drink.

When she refused, he demanded cash and then used a large super-saker, which was in a laptop bag, to spray white paint on the woman and in the store.

The 34-year-old woman tried to restrain the man before he assaulted her and pulled the shutters, trapping them both inside.

As he continued to assault her, the woman managed to move her balaclava slightly, giving the CCTV camera a glimpse of her face.

She managed to open the door and escape, before the man followed and assaulted her outside the store.

The woman suffered facial injuries and bruising but did not require hospital treatment.

The man fled the scene without drink on what is believed to be a black Hoverfly G4 electric scooter.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe can help with their enquiries.

He is described as being around 175cm tall, of solid build and aged in his 40s.

The man was wearing a black hoodie with white paint on it, dark gray pants, a black LA Raiders cap, black socks and no shoes.

He was carrying a large super-saker, which was in a black bag.
